IIMB EPGP Application Process 2023
 

The Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) (MBA) is a full time one year residential programme. The EPGP admission process starts with the submission of the online application form.

 

The documents to be submitted as part of the application process are listed below.

 

Please ensure that all the documents submitted are complete in all respects.

a) Documents to be uploaded :

1. SSC, HSC & Bachelors’ Degree Transcripts

2. Bachelor’s Degree Certificate

3. GMAT/GREScoreSheet

4. Statement of Purpose for pursuing the EPGP programme

5. Work Experience letters / Payslips (First & Last) - indicating Date of joining

6. SC/ST/NC-OBC/EWS Certificate (if applicable)

7. Person with disability (PwD), then the relevant disability certificate

b) Submission of TWO Reference letters is mandatory.

Provide details (email id &contact details) of two persons as your referees in the on-line application (preferably one from the current employer or from an individual who is in a position to evaluate your job performance).

References will have to be submitted online by the referees directly on or before the stipulated last date for submission of application. Please inform the referees accordingly when you approach them for providing references.

References are a part of the application and you will be able to submit the application only after the Reference section is complete. No separate extension will be allowed for submission of References outside the application.

References cannot be received/submitted separately.

 

c) The application fee is non-refundable and should be paid on-line. Details for making the online payment are provided in the application form.

Eligibility Criteria

• Graduation* in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Applicants from SC ,ST and PwD categories should have a minimum of 45% or equivalent CGPA. [*Applicant/s who have not undergone any Bachelors Degree but completed their CA/ICWA/CS after Class XII, are also eligible to apply for EPGP 2024. • Minimum 5 years (and preferably less than 12 years) of work experience as on March 31, 2024, after completion of graduation.

• A valid GMAT or GRE score - The GMAT / GRE Score should be valid as on the date of application submission in each round. It is mandatory to submit Official Score card/Test Taker copy (if Official Score card is not yet received) along with the application.

• Online GMAT/GRE score (exam taken at home) is not applicable for EPGP 2024.

• Please note that the IIMB EPGP code for GMAT is Q9H-KK-84 and for GRE is 1675. Use these codes to have your score sent directly to IIMB. Your official score report from Pearson / GMAC (for the GMAT) or ETS (for the GRE) will be used for verification using the above codes. This process is mandatory.

• A Statement of Purpose (SOP) that enables the applicant to highlight his/her future goals and achievements.

• Two references (on-line), preferably one from the current employer or from an individual who is in a position to evaluate the applicant’s performance on the job.

Selection Criteria

Applications that are complete in all aspects and qualify in terms of the minimum academic and other criteria specified above are evaluated for being progressed to the next stage in the admission process.Shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview process.

 

The interview panel will evaluate each candidate's performance in terms of quality of work experience, diversity, leadership qualities, social sensitivity, and multi-facetedness.

As a general approach to selecting a candidate to the programme, a multi-factor model is used.These factors include academic track record, GMAT/GRE scores, quality of work experience, performance in the interview and writing ability test. 

A composite total score will be calculated for each applicant using the multifactor model. A merit list is prepared based on the composite total score.

 

The offer of admission will be made to a certain percentage of applicants in the merit list. The number of offers made will depend on the availability of seats.

 

The number of offers will be further subject to the candidate meeting a minimum cutoff in terms of the composite score and / or for any other factor score that the admissions committee may decide on.

What GMAT score is recommended for IIMB EPGP?
 
  1. While there is no specific minimum GMAT score requirement for the IIMB EPGP (Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives) program, a competitive GMAT score is generally recommended to enhance your chances of acceptance. The average GMAT score of admitted candidates at IIMB EPGP is typically around 700 or higher.

Which Exam should you Attempt for IIMB EPGP- GMAT or GRE?
  1. Both the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) and GRE (Graduate Record Examination) are accepted by the IIIMB EPGP for admission to their programs. When deciding between the two exams, it's important to consider your individual strengths and preferences.

  2. The GMAT is specifically designed for business school admissions and focuses on assessing skills relevant to the field of management. It consists of sections on Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning. If you are primarily targeting business schools and want to showcase your abilities specifically in the context of business and management, the GMAT may be the preferred choice.

  3. On the other hand, the GRE is a more general test accepted by a wide range of graduate programs, including business schools. It consists of sections on Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning. If you are considering applying to a variety of graduate programs, beyond just business schools, the GRE offers flexibility and allows you to keep your options open.

  1. The Executive MBA from IIM Bangalore fees is INR 29,00,000 for shared accommodation and INR 31,00,000 for family accommodation.

  2. This includes a Tuition fees of INR 23,00,000

  3. A refundable deposit of INR 20,000

  4. International immersion fees tentatively of INR 4,30,000

FAQs
What if I can't get any reference from my employer, who can I ask for a reference?

In this case you can approach a previous employer or your college professor or someone can evaluate your skills preferably.

What are the parameters that go into the selection process for Executive MBA from IIM Bangalore?

Some important parameters for evaluation in the Executive MBA from IIM Bangalore are:

What are the guidelines for the written Ability Test for the Executive MBA from IIM Bangalore application process?

 

  1. The written ability test is a half an hour a written exam.

  2. Applicants are given a topic to write an essay.

  3. The time limit for writing the Written Ability Test is 30 minutes.

  4. The first 10 minutes can be used to think about the points to write.

  5. The next 20 minutes will be the writing session.

  6. Only after submitting the WAT will the candidate be allowed to sit for the interview.

Should I apply in Round 1 or Round 2 or Round 3 for the Executive MBA in IIM Bangalore?

  1. There is no fixed number of seats for each of the rounds.

  2. To give equal opportunity for the candidates in the other rounds there are some seats which are available in round two and round three.

  3. It is not essentially the same for round one has in round two, as compared to the round three

  4. It depends on how many candidates join the programme from the round one.

  5. It has been observed that the number of applications in round two is more than round one.

  6. Thus the chances in round 2 or 3 become lesser than that in round 1.

Is the IIMB EPGP an executive MBA programme or diploma programme?

IIMB EPGP is an MBA programme for professionals with more than five years of work experience.

Will I be eligible for placement if I take sabbatical from my current organisation?

There are two kinds of candidates here.

  1. One is a candidate who has opted for a sabbatical but not informing the Institute is free to attend the placement.

  2. In the second case, if there is an agreement between IIMB and the applicant's organisation then the candidate is not eligible to participate in the placement process.

Can an OBC candidate who has applied for the OBC certificate but not yet received it yet apply for the Executive MBA from IIM Bangalore program?

Yes, he can apply with the OBC certificate but if he is shortlisted for the interview at that time he must provide a valid certificate.

If one takes a study leave and join Executive MBA from IIM Bangalore program then will he be able to sit for placement process?

If a candidate takes a sabbatical leave and if the same company is also coming for placements at IIMB EPGP. If IIMB has an agreement, saying that he won't be allowed the candidate to sit in the placement, then IIMB wouldn't allow those candidates to sit for placement otherwise, the candidate is eligible to apply for placement opportunities.

Is the gap in career or education a negative?

A gap in academics or a gap in career is a negative for the IIMB EPGP application process.

Is it mandatory to write the optional essay?

Executive MBA from IIM Bangalore application does not have any essay. Applicants have to submit only a statement of purpose. There is no optional essay required.

Can only the professional email addresses be added for recommenders in the Executive MBA from IIM Bangalore application?

For the reference letter the professional email address is preferred but not mandatory and the request for recommendation letter can be sent to their personal mail IDs also.

What should be included in the SOP for Executive MBA from IIM Bangalore?

The SOP in the IIMB EPGP application process has guidelines. Some important things to cover in the IIMB EPGP SOP are reasons for you looking for a one year MBA programme and  how it will help you in your future. Include post MBA plans also in the SOP.

What are the merit scholarships offered by Executive MBA from IIM Bangalore?

IIMB EPGP students are offered an admission scholarship that is based on the composite score after the interview based on everything including the interview performance and the academics of the applicant.

  1. The admission scholarship is of INR 6 lakhs out of which the qualifying candidate will receive three lakhs at the time of admission and three lakhs later after the performance in term one and two.

  2. There is a merit scholarship for five students which is of three lakh each and that is based on performance of term one and two put together.

  3. Terms-  One and Two are the deciding factors for the scholarships.
